Unlike his father and grandfather, Thutmose IV was not much of a military leader.
He suppressed an uprising in Nubia in his 8th Year around 1393 BC.
Established good relations with Mitanni and finally married Mutemwiya a Mitannian princess.
His most celebrated accomplishment was the restoration of the Sphinx at Giza.
He placed a carved stone tablet "the Dream Stele", between the two paws of the Sphinx.
The Stele tells that, while out on a hunting trip, Thutmose IV fell asleep in the shadow of the Sphinx head,
Ra-Harakhte, the sun god embodied in the Sphinx, came to him in a dream and promised that if he would clear away the sand that engulfed the monument, Tuthmose would become Pharaoh of Egypt.
