  • Thutmose I was the military commander for Amenhotep I, who took the throne after the death of the childless Pharaoh.
  • He ran several military campaigns in western Asia and Nubia.
  • He managed to push the southern border of Egypt to the Third Cataract in Nubia defeating the Nubian chief and returned to Thebes with the body of the fallen enemy hanging on the prow of his ship
  • In Syria he reached the Euphrates River
  • His architect, Ineni, was responsible for extending the temple of Amun at Karnak, adding 4th and 5th pylon and hypostyle hall between these pylons constructed, with columns made of cedar wood
  • He also elected an obelisk at Karnak - 19.5 meters tall, one of Egypt's largest standing obelisks
  • He was also the father of Hatshepsut from Queen Ahmose
