Horemheb appointed his military commander Ramses I as heir, who founded the 19th Dynasty
19th Dynasty (1292 - 1187 BC.)
Ramses I moved the capital city to Avaris (Pi-Ramesse)
Seti I recaptured territories lost under Akhenaten.
Ramses II fought in Battle of Kadesh in 1274 BC.
Ramses II signed peace treaty with Hittites in 1258 BC.
Construction of monumental temples
Merenptah moved the Captal city to Memphis
When Siptah died Queen Twosret seized the throne, and assumed the role of a Pharaoh.
Tawosret was deposed by Setnakhte who founded the 20th Dynasty
20th Dynasty (1186 - 1069 BC.)
Capital city moved back to Avaris (Pi-Ramesse)
Ramses III repulses invasion of "Sea People". He is considered the last great Egyptian Pharaoh.
After Ramses III, empire began to disintegrate
